Colombia's largest oil company and Latin America's 4th producer, Ecopetrol, hosted a "Investor Day" in London to highlight the attractiveness of the company to british investors.
At the event, the company's Chief Executive, Javier Gutierrez, announced an investing $80 billion in projects through 2020 to increase production to 1.3 million barrels of oil equivalent a day as well as a target production of 50,000 barrels from unconventionals by 2020.
Ecopetrol is one of the top 40 oil companies in the world, and it is the fourth largest in Latin America. Besides Colombia, where it accounts for 62% of total production, the Company is involved in exploration and production activities in Brazil, Peru, and the United States (Gulf Coast). Ecopetrol owns and operates the refineries in Colombia, most of the network of oil and multiple purpose pipelines in the country, and it is increasing its participation in biofuels.
