The Independent Traveller, Wanderlust magazine and Colombia's Tourist Office - Proexport- continue searching for the best travel photos for the 2011 Travel Photo of the Year competition.

The four winners of the Photo of the Year Amateur category will be whisked away (along with a companion) to Colombia, a photographer’s paradise dotted with ancient sites and natural wonders.

Photos entered into the Amateur category can be taken anywhere in the world, but must fit one of four categories: People, Wildlife, Landscape or Travel Icons. The Travel Icons category is designed to recognise shots of places, events and people that have achieved an iconic visual status in the world of travel.

The winning images, plus a selection of shortlisted shots, will be featured on the Wanderlust website, printed in Wanderlust Magazine and The Independent, and showcased in an exhibition at Destinations 2012, the UK’s top holiday and travel show.

Closing date for entries is 21st October 2011.
