The announcement made in London by Luis Fernando Andrade, President of the Colombian National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), further reflects Government’s plans to designate 1.5% of GDP to infrastructure projects over the next two years while increasing this to 3% by 2014.
During his address to British investors at the seminar “Infrastructure Investment In Colombia: Opportunities For British Business” organised by Proexport Colombia, Mr Andrade said that investment in infrastructure was necessary to maintain the current economic growth rates. He added that investment rate needs to be maintained at 3% of GDP for at least a year for this goal to be achieved.
At the event, the President of the ANI further emphasised the importance of the UK’s contribution in this new infrastructure investment plan; highlighting that British companies are well experienced in managing public-private portfolios such as the one being implemented by the Colombian Government.
